A Rehearsal to Prepare for Labor Day Concert

Of course all this good music doesn't come without a lot of preparation!

HomeTown Buffet

After the concert, which was from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Band President Ralph Grace took all the players and their wives or mothers to Hometown Buffet for a gourmet feast.

Labor Day Concert Well-Received

Honoring America's workers, the AmVets Band played a two-hour Labor Day Concert at the Sunrise Retirement Facility.

The audience were thrilled to hear so many old, familiar tunes. Some members of the audience enjoyed the concerts from chairs on the lawn, but many more appreciated the Band's efforts from their porches at their own homes.

Some of their favorite tunes included I Left My Heart in San Francisco, Tennessee Waltz, an Irving Berlin Medley, and Let Me Call You Sweetheart.

Two students from Cordova High School exhibited their great sight-reading skills by filling in the ranks at the last minute. The band extends their thanks to Maya Sailor (clarinet) and Tiko Cassidy (flute), and hopes they will be able to play with the band on a regular basis.
